The 3+1 Habits of Resilient Families Evening Presentation

The 3+1 Habits of Resilient Families presentation is taking place from 6:00 to 7:00pm on Monday, February 29th at Trillium Woods Public School. 
 
This valuable presentation will provide parents and guardians with strategies to help coach their children to bounce back from tough emotions and challenges and help them to make choices which will build confidence and respect for themselves and others. In order for us to prepare for this exciting event, an RSVP form will go home with each student early next week.

Additional Elementary P.A. Day



As a result of provincial labour negotiations, a P.A. Day has been added for all York Region District School Board elementary schools on Friday, May 6, 2016 You can see the full updated school year calendars on YRDSB’s website.

These additional P.A. Days are mandated by the Ministry of Education. On these dates, teachers will be taking part in professional development on provincial education priorities identified by the Ministry of Education.

K-1 Families and Schools Together Program is coming to TWPS


 Thursday evenings this winter the Families and Schools Together Program
will be offered at Trillium Woods P.S.
 
Join us for some fun, food and family time.

The F&ST program starts off with 9 week, multiple family get together in which families participate once a week in the following activities:



·       A FREE family meal

·        Family games played at your family table

·        Children’s time to play, sing and enjoy gym activities!

·        Parent time to meet and socialize with other parents

·        One to one play time with your child



You’ll really enjoy yourselves as the goal of the program is to build family relationships, have fun, build community and empower all family members.
 And best of all, it’s FREE !!!!
Your whole family is invited to attend as there is something for everyone!  
 
Forms will distributed to all K-grade 1 students on Monday, January 18. Watch for it. Spaces are limited and will be first come/first served.

Proposed start date: February 18 from 5:30-8:00 p.m.

Reminder: French Immersion Information Evening for SK Parents on January 14th

Information sessions for the French Immersion (FI) program will take place at MichaĆ«lle Jean Public School, 320 Shirley Drive, Richmond Hill on January 14, 2016 at 7 p.m. 

Please visit YRDSB’s website in January 2016 for any additional information (http://www.yrdsb.ca/Programs/fi/Pages/Program-Locations.aspx).

FI registration will begin January 15, 2016, after 8:30 am. Parents or guardians of Senior Kindergarten students entering Grade 1 in September 2016, and wishing to enrol in the FI Program, can visit or call the current school office and request an Office Index Card - short version. The Office Index Card must be signed by the principal of the home school where your child attends Senior Kindergarten. Parents or guardians then take this form, along with one piece of identification showing their address to Michaƫlle Jean Public School to register between January 15 and February 12, 2016. This eliminates the need to provide duplicate enrollment information or to pre-register.

Save the Date for a Special Parent Presentation



We are very excited to inform you about an upcoming presentation that will be taking place at Trillium Woods on Monday, February 29th. There will be two presentations throughout the day for the students and a presentation after school for parents. The overall focus of  the presentations will be on mental wellness, with a specific focus on resiliency, healthy ways to release feelings, character matters and self regulation. The goal is to help students to think and act beyond their feelings so they can choose to be resilient, confident and respectful people. The parent presentation is designed to make parents aware of strategies they can use to help coach their children to self regulate, to build confidence and to bounce back from challenges. Sara Westbrook from UPower is the presenter and she will share the key messages through personal stories and songs. Details and notices will continue to be sent out over upcoming weeks to keep you informed about the details pertaining to this valuable presentation.
