A Message from the Administration Team
What a fantastic week at Trillium Woods Public School! Despite the rainy start to the week, students have been sorted and are settled into their new classes and have already started the business of essential learning in their new grades. We look forward to learning alongside the students over the course of the year. Please do not hesitate to contact our main office with questions, concerns or feedback that will help us continue to make Trillium Woods a great place to learn and grow.
Teacher Voice Mail
Please note that our phone voice mail system is currently malfunctioning. It will be up and running by Wednesday next week. If you have left a voice mail for a teacher over the course of this week, it is quite possible that it has not been received by the teacher. Please communicate with your child's teacher through agenda or our main office if you need to until next Wednesday morning.
Catch the Storm Wristbands
Each
month, students who demonstrate good character will be awarded super-stylish
and super-cool CATCH THE STORM
Character Matters wristbands. To earn a band, students do not have to
demonstrate a particular character
trait during a particular month, just
show good character in one of the YRDSB recognized character traits some way
during the month. Wristband earners will be asked to stand and be recognized
during monthly assemblies. If a student has done something particularly
fantastic, a special shout-out will take place at the assembly or during
announcements.
School Council Elections
Attending school
council meetings is a great way to understand the goings on in our school and
provide input into some school related decisions. All community members are invited
to attend school council meetings to participate in the discussions tabled each
month that relate to the school as a whole.
Each year, our
parent community elects the core 13 school council members. The core members
commit to attending each council meeting and have voting participation responsibility.
School council nomination forms went home in the school start-up package and
are due next Friday, September 18th if you would like to be added to
the school council membership ballot. School Council elections will take some
time the week of September 21st . The actual date will be
communicated via flyer and e-mail once set. All parents with a child who
attends TWPS can vote for the new council members.
Stay tuned!
Extended Student Vacations
If
you intend to take your child on a vacation that extends longer than 15 school
days, you must notify the school of the dates of your vacation and expected
return date. For each 15 day consecutive absence, a new notification must be
submitted to our office. Please speak to Mrs. Littlehales for the appropriate
paperwork. Students on extended vacation without proper notification will need
to be re-registered upon their return.

There may be circumstances where students and families will request accommodations for religious beliefs in curriculum areas including the Arts and Physical Education. Accommodations may include different instruction and assessment opportunities, as well as an accommodation of full withdrawal. If you or your child are interested in discussing an accommodation based upon your religious beliefs, please speak with your child’s teacher and the school principal. By providing a range of accommodations, we are building a sense of community and belonging for all students.
Two important communications regarding our current labour issues and also the new HPE curriculum were sent home with each student this week. The letters are attached below for your reference.
